ESXi

I installed the latest patches for my two ESXi v4.1 servers using the vSphere Host Update Utility; the servers are now build 1363503.  In a web browser, when I go to the home page of either server to download the vSphere Client, I get the following error: HTTP 404 Not Found.  The link is pointing to:

http://vsphereclient.vmware.com/vsphereclient/1/2/9/8/9/7/7/VMware-viclient-all-4.1.0-1298977.exe

What do I need to do to be able to download the latest vSphere Client for ESXi v4.1?

This web site does not have a link to vSphere Client v4.1.0-1298977.

have you tried downloading the client from myvmware portal

Yes, but when I try to download from that site, I get this error:

You either are not entitled or do not have permissions to download this product.

Check with your My VMware Super User, Procurement Contact or Administrator.

Any other suggestions for downloading the vSphere Client 4.1a?

I am having the same issue, the linked version of the client after installing the recent update is just a dead link.  So far I have had two emails with support, both of them they haven't understood the issue.  I run the free version of ESXi server and first they told me I wasn't licensed to download vSphere.  After explaining myself again, I was directed to the Update 3 build of the client.

This isn't the first time this has happened either apparently, see this thread.

Hopefully someone will see this thread and correct the issue, just like what happened in that thread.  Until then, I think we are stuck.

I am still not able to download the vSphere Client from the server home page.  When I click the link, I am taken t a web site with the following text:

          File not found."

Please fix this problem so that the following link will work:

Why not use any other 4.1.x client? I believe it should work with the ESX versions that you have..

I am currently using vSphere Client 4.1.0 Build 799345 (with no issues that I can see).  I was reporting the broken link on the server and hoping for a quick fix to download build 1298977.  Seems like an easy issue to fix to me.

Well i dont see that build 1363503 listed in  VMware KB: Correlating vCenter Server and ESXi/ESX host build numbers to update levels ... where/how did you download that build?

It's listed on the Product Patches download page for ESXi 4.1 (https://my.vmware.com/group/vmware/patch#search).  It is listed as ESXi410-201312001, release date 12/05/2013, build number 1363503 (KB2061210).

Even if it did, I don't think it would work.

Indeed, check the build numbers peul.  Our issue is that for whatever reason, VMWare hasn't made this file available for download, even though it is linked for download from an instance of ESXi server that has been updated to build 1363503.

I am wondering how this has gone for so long without a solution.  Doesn't anyone else patch their servers?  Very few people seem to even understand the issue, I haven't even had any luck with VMWare support.

It should be fixed soon. I think not many folks noticed this and are using the older clients to connect to ESX.
