I'm running ESXi 5.0.0, 1024429
vCenter build 913577
I am trying to clone a VM to a template.
I get an error:
A specified parameter was not correct.
I have plenty of free space on my datastores, my VM is turned off & is healthy.
If you have folders created and if you are selecting folder during clonining make sure you have appropriate permissions on the folder.
Plus check permission of your own account.
Make sure you have permission at datacenter level to clone a vm and converter template etc.
Just give a try with this.
Right click vsphere client and click on run as administrator, login and try to clone. See if that works. In most cases this issue is because of UAC.
Also refer the below kb: if you have SDRS configured.
refer the below i:
http://communities.vmware.com/thread/287200
When I run the clone to template process, the error occurs when it tries to create a new VM. So it appears to copy the files correctly.
I login by using my domain credentials. I am part of the Administrators group.
I tried running vsphere as manager, it did not help.
"In the vSphere Client inventory, right-click a datastore cluster and select Edit Settings."
When I right click my datastores, I do not see an edit settings option.
See if your group have got the below premission on sdrs. to apply sdrs recommendation to place the clone this required.
Please paste the screen shot of the error message, at what stage you get this error message, when selecting datastore cluster or etc.. seems to be premission issue, for not seeing the datastore cluster.
I removed all resource pools to get rid of my DRS error message to see if it was related, that did not help.
I cannot clone a VM or Clone a VM to template.
I removed the VM from inventory. Now when I try to add back to inventory, I get another error.
