Hi,
I just finished installing ESXi5 on a new host, configured the management IP settings and performed succesfully the Test Management from the ESX menu.
Now if i try to add it from the VIClient i first get a warning about the certificate (I click Yes to Trust the host), but then it errors out with:
Call "Datacenter.QueryConnectionInfo" for object "datacenter" on vCenter Server "server.acme.com" failed.
Cannot contact the specified host. The host may not be available on the network, a network configuration problem may exist, or the mangement services on this host may not be responding.
I can ping the host, i checked DNS settings and all is fine.
Are you trying to add your host to the vCenter server? Which version of vCenter are you running?
Are you able to acces the host directly using vSphere client?
Check if this KB help
Hi
Take a look at wmware kb :
Cannot connect to the ESX/ESXi host or add it to vCenter Server
Usually DNS or lockdown issues
Try restarting the management agents on the host, for more info see this KB.
I have checked the KB articles, i cannot log directly to the host using the VIClient. I get:
Call "ServiceInstance.RetrieveContent" for object "ServiceInstance" on Server "10.56.64.16" failed. The client did not receive a complete response from the server "10.56.64.16". (The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occured on a receive.)
I have tried restarting the mangement agent but the issue is the same.
The Configure Lockdown Mode option is greyed out.
VCenter version is 5.0.0 Build 455964
I have enabled ssh on the host but when i try to putty it, i get:
Incoming packet was garbled on decryption
Did you try a restart of the ESXi host itself? Is this the only host with problems?
About the putty problem; can you try this:
Check cable & count errors on physical switch port
And from console ESXi
1. check count error & discards by esxtop -> n
2. try to ping vCenter by name and by ip address
I tried to use your ssh options but it did not help.
I tried rebooting the host but the issue is the same.
I can ping the server by IP and by name without issues
Can you try to recheck the lockdown mode option.
Are you able to access the ESXi console? is yes run this command to check the lockdown status
vim-cmd -U dcui vimsvc/auth/lockdown_is_enabled
