Cannot access ESXI 7.0 from web client, ssh or the DCUI

My  backups started failing from not able to access the ESXI 7.0 server saying the credentials are not working., I discovered that i cannot access the esxi server using the root account even at the Direct console. I get a error saying i do not have permission to access the console. The web logon page does not load the username or passwords box.

I can use the same browser and it loads on the other esxi servers.

Hello.
The first thing would be to migrate the ESXi VMs with access problems if possible to another ESXi.
Another option would be to turn off the ESXi host and turn it back on to try to access it.
verify the keyboard and password you are using.

VMware does not provide tools or methods to recover the original root password of an ESX/ESXi host.
attached several links on how to reset the password :

Hi @TheCloser ,

Seems like the administrator had enabled lockdown mode on this ESXi host. Only the which were added to exceptions list may be able to login and disable lockdown mode. --> Lockdown mode

If the host added to a AD domain and the user permissions are assigned, you can try logging on to host client using AD credentials and disable lockdown --> Exit lockdown mode

Hope that helps.

Thank you for the response. It is not joined to the AD, No one logs on to this server but me.and the twin server next to it is working fine, It is like a malfunction even if i put no user name and hit enter it gives ne the same response instead of wrong user name or password. I cannot access it with root so how can i troubleshoot the issue? TY

since i had no access to the esxi I used stand alone VMware converter to migrate the vm;s off the esxi. rebooted the esxi server using ILO power cycle boot option. The esxi came up and logon function was restored to normal. Since i only created a copy of the VM's to the other server i only had to power the original VM's backup and delete the copy's off the backup server. . I have no idea what caused this behavior but I'm glad its back to working. TY for your help. TheCloser.
