Cannot Upgrade to vCenter 5.5 update 3b

Hi,

I have run into a little trouble upgrading out vCenter server to the latest 5.5 Update 3B

For some reason it keeps failing when trying to install the components for the Vmware SSO

More specifically it seems to be failing on the Vmware JRE components.

I have attached the screenshot of the error plus the install logs.

I have looked through them and tried to fine an solution  myself but cannot seem to find anything related to the JRE components.

I have also tried to install them separately from vJRE folder on the dvd

The server is a Windows 2012 R2, and current vCenter is 5.5 RTM

Any help will be appreciated

@COC,  you are correct, I should have posted my fix as well

Here it is

In the HKEY_Classes_Root\Installer\Products search for the component that is failing, so for me it was VMware vCenter Server - Java Components

Once you find the right component by the product name

You will see a string value called Transforms

For me this was pointing to the local user's temp folder.

I just right click on Transforms and selected Delete

After that the install went just fine.

It had to do the same thing for the TC Server components too

Hi tpoulter,

Silly question: have you checked the hash on the file you downloaded to confirm that it is intact?

Kind regards

@ : I had yes, and had a 2nd download of the iso too.

But I have found the fix for me.

For some reason there was a registry key that was pointing to an msi transform file that did not exist

Once I had deleted that key the upgrade went with out issue

It would help others if you post the fix.

What registry entry did you change and what did you change it to?

Thanks
