Can we change ESXi Host from licensed License to Free License ?

We are currently have two extra ESX CPU license so that we can assign it to a newly setup ESXi Host that is not connected to FC SAN.

However, we would like to know in cause of need, can we change the license assigned to the ESXi Host back to Free License so that we can use it on another ESX or ESXi Host ?

Yes, you can change licenses any time, the only issue you will have is functionality.

If you are running virtual center and have a feature rich license and decided to change to the free, register only license, you could end up losing functionality and the ability to power on certain vm's if the vcpu's go above your new license mode.

But tehcnically you can change licenses any time, you could even remove a license and go to eval mode again for 60 days.

Yes, of course. But you will lose connection from vCenter to this host, Free Edition does not support centralized management.
