I am ESX 4 user already. Now I want to try and test the ESXi 4 for the test. I know that there is free ESXi 4, but is not supported vCenter agent and cannot be backuped by Veeam or vRanger/vReplicator, so I want to try the ESXi 4 licensed version, my question are:
1) Can I apply vSphere Essentals/ESX 4 license to ESXi 4? If not, how can I buy it? Web address is preferred.
2) Can ESXi 4 installed in a vSphere VM?

I don't think you will have any problems licensing your ESXi host with your enterprise licensing. Check out this link for running ESX inside of vSphere. It might be applicable for ESXi too. http://www.vcritical.com/2009/05/vmware-esx-4-can-even-virtualize-itself/

Yes. Licenses for vSphere are applicable to both ESX and ESXi.
