Can't run VSphere on Ubuntu Linux box

I installed all the pearl libs, and installed vshere with success, but, whenever I try to run vmwarectrl, I got the following error:

VMWARE_CTRL Extension not found.

How can I do to fix this?

Thanks

EDIT

Sorry about the lack of details.

I downloaded the VSphere client and instaled it in an ubuntu linux. I want to connect to an ESXi server and manage the VMs.

After installing all sort of perl libs and dependencies, I end up with the error above, which I didn't found any way to solve or even what is causing it.

By the way, is an ubuntu 12.10.

Thanks in advance.

vSphere is hypervisor and not an applicatiion to install in Linux.

You need to install it directly on the host and not in another OS.

What did you download and what are you trying to do?

I think the OP is trying to get vSphere CLI working - same username as here: http://superuser.com/questions/571672/vmware-vsphere-on-ubuntu

Unfortunatley this thread is rather lacking in detail.
