Can´t power off VM

Hi All

After an iscsi crash and a management network restart on the host. Our VDP test appliance appears powered on in vcenter and has locked a few VMs snapshots.

The vm is powered off as I also had to restart the SAN. When trying to power off the vm from vSphere Client I get the error <An error was received from the ESX host while powering off VM VDP-Test-VMs.>

When trying from vMA I get the flowing error:

Operation cannot be performed:
SOAP Fault:
-----------
Fault string: A general system error occurred: Unknown error
Fault detail: SystemError

I'm using the command vmware-cmd <path> stop hard

The host has access to the iscsi LUN and i can browse the vdp folder but not manipulate files or settings for the VDP VM

Any help is mostly appriciated

Anyone ?

esxi 5.1 1021289

vcenter 5.1 947673

Thanks

Poul

NFS can typically recover from such scenarios but block based you will often need to find the offending ESXi host that has the file lock and reboot it.  Have a look at the ESXi section of the following KB if you haven't already:
