Can't get Windows 2019 to see a 4TB external drive

I just purchased this 4TB external drive and hooked it up to our VMware server. VMware sees it (shows up as USB device: Toshiba EXTERNALUSB) but Windows Server does not. There is nothing showing up in Disk Management in Windows. In Windows device manager, it is showing up as ‘Unknown USB Device (Invalid Device Descriptor) and it doesn’t show up in.

Dell PowerEdge Server T330
VMware version: 6.7.0 update 2 build 13006603
Windows version: Windows 2019 Server standard, fully updated
External drive: Toshiba 4TB drive
Part number: HDTP340XK3CA

Any ideas please?

first of all update your ESXi to version 6.7 update 3 latest version + install the latest VMware tools and update your HW version on your VM. this is MUST - I would say.

you should add a virtual USB device to your VM where you point your external physical 4 TB device.

should work without a restart but you can restart your VM.
