I am having trouble migrating a VM from a datastore. I am trying to decommission this SAN and I have been able to move all other VM's off except one. I am not able to move it powered on on or off. When I try to move it using vcenter I get the attached error. If I use vmkfstools -i to clone it I get a "Function Not Implemented" error and if I try a straight cp copy of the VM I get a "read: Function Not Implemented" error. The VM can be powered on and the OS and Service functions fine.
I have narrowed the problem to one of the two vmdk's the other vmdk cp's and " vmkfstools's" just fine. I am a bit stuck on how to proceded. I am hoping someone out there has had a problem like this and a quick fix. I would rather not rebuild the VM or restore backups to new VM if possible. Any idea's would be a great help. Thanks.
quick enviroment info

Hi, i have the same error, did you solve this problem?

Thanks
I have the same problem and I do not know to resolve it. Pls help.
vmware 5.1
datastore: IBM DS6800 - transport Fibre Channel
corrupted 3 VM´s on the same LUN
problem:
- migrate VM to other LUN powered on or powered off (migrate VM to other host is ok)
- clone VM
- v2v
- veeam backup & replikation
I can take snapshot, turn off and turn on VM without problem.
Other VM´s on the same LUN does not have problem.
Could you help me, please?
I found an article with the error message you mentioned from the hostd log file
please check below link --- hope it helps
Thank's, but It is not my situation. I have ESXi 5.1 and I can migrate to host.

have you tried doing an advance svmotion i.e. moving all the files to different datastore except the one in question
No, but I'll try it this weekend and then I'll give you feedback. Thank's
not possible download file from datastore, system writes "I/O error occurred" when I copy vmdk file
You can do encapsulation make a ovf copy from the virtual machine you like to migrate note this need a downtime to your virtual machine when creating ovf.
then read the next step as it goes
let me know if this help you.
