Can i register Virtual Machine from VMware player 4 from esxi 4.1?

Hi All,

There are few virtual machines are running in VMware player version 4, Now i need to migrate into ESXi 4.1..

It's Possible just copy & past the Virtual machines files which is running in vmware player into datastore then register the same in the esxi server and power on.. it will work????

because i don't do V2V method.....

With Regards,

Vimal Palani

Due to you running the VM on HW version8 you will not be able to just move the machine to ESXi.

The only supported option is to do a conversion on the Guest to downgrade the hardware on migration to vSphere

How is the VM configured? what format is its VMDK? what VM HW level is it at?

Unlikely with out a repair of the OS, due to the extra hardware that HW8 introduced over HW7, but I am not 100% certain on that.
