Can a Snapshot be moved?

ESXi 4.1

vCetner 4.1

I have a user VM that is not starting due to “not enough space” on the SAN where the VM is stored.

The snapshot is over 3 GB.

The VM is 47 GB

Is there a way I can move the 3 GB snapshot file from one SAN volume to a different SAN volume?

I will then re-point the snapshots to a folder on the other SAN volume.

I do not want to move the VM because there id only 35 GB of free space.

thanks

Why not move the whole VM to a different datastore. Storage vMotion if you have it. vCenter clone or VMware Converter if you don't. If you are having a non start due to space constraints moving the snapshot isn't going to help much and may complicate things with other VMs on the same storage.

Currently, we do not have enough space on any of the volumes to move the VM.

I was hoping to moved the 3 GB snap to see if I can at least strat the VM and use SNP MGR to delete the snap.

You can consolidate the snapshot with the VM powered off with snapshot manager..
