Can Perennial Reservation be set during install

We have a number of RDMs and we have set up Perennial Reservations so we are not waiting eons at boot up, this is working fine.

However if we need to reinstall a host we have to wait for the timeouts during the install process that means can easily take a day to build a single host.

Is it possible to set the Perennial Reservations during the boot process of the install media?  We can not disconnect the network as we are unable to enter the building other than emergency work due to the current health crisis.

Thanks

Dave

As long as you're not doing boot from SAN and/or using the same driver for network and volume access, you can create a custom ISO to remove the vib that ESXi uses to access your storage. When the host comes after install, do whatever config you want, reinstall the vib and reboot.

I do this as part of a process we have to reinstall hosts and it works since network/san drivers are different.

You may also mask LUNs from ESXi  using the PSA rules and add a custom vib

here's another method from william lam https://www.virtuallyghetto.com/2012/04/disable-lun-during-esxi-installation.html
