Ad per title, I know this can easily be done with vSphere but I don't have it. I have a standalone box I use for testing at home.
I just would like to receive an email when a critical event happens like a fan failing or a disk of a disk in the RAID fails. I can see these easily logging into ESXi but would like to be alerted by email.
Can this be done? if not can I run a VM to perform this action?
Running 6.5 currently.
Thanks!
I'm afraid that Email notification requires vCenter Server.
However, current server hardware usually offers a management interface (e.g. iLO, iDRAC, ...) which can be used for such Email notifications.

Yes you are right I can get email notification via IPMI on my Tyan motherboard however this works only for hardware motherboard related e.g. not the additional Adapted 6805 controller I have.
