Hi Folks,
Its known to all that ESX supports only scsi. But is there any way to install ESX 4 on SATA disks?. I am having HP machine with SATA disks. I would like to see ESX 4 installed in it. Please help if any body has done it before.

which machine you are having, you should be able to insatll it, morover esx 4.0 has experimental support for SSD also
Tried installing ESX4 i , but the installation page where it actually displays the disks is just blank. lit doesnt picks or detect my SATA disks.
post the snapshot of your machine and check your RAID level, which HP machine you using??
You need a supported SAS/SATA controller.
See in HCL:
http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility
Or in whitebox configurations:

Yes it can. My home vSphere lab is running on Asus P5QL Pro mobo with 400 GB SATA drive for ESX and local VMFS datastore. SATA controller is set to AHCI mode in BIOS since ESX4 has native SATA support on IHC10R which my mobo has.
Make sure that you have supported Ethernet controller also. ESX4 dropped support for 100Mb NICS and if you don't have supported NIC install will not finish.
