Call "HostDatastoreSystem.QueryVmfsDatastoreCreateOptions" for object "datastoreSystem-xxxx" on vCenter Server "w.x.y.z" failed.


folks

new server.  esxi5.1 installed on ssd card.  boots okay.  vsphere client connects fine.  can't create datastore.  researched on the web.  partition looks good.  get following error + vsphere client gets disconnected from host.

Call "HostDatastoreSystem.QueryVmfsDatastoreCreateOptions" for object "datastoreSystem-xxxx" on vCenter Server "w.x.y.z" failed.

searched thru hostd.logs and didn't see anything unusual (grep Warnings)

any assistance appreciated.

got it working.  dell server from factory with esxi installed on ssd.  had 2 partitions configured from factory.  1 with 19g and 1 with 1.8t (2 1t drives).  deleted 19g partition and re-initialized virtual disk.  able to create datastore without issue.
