    I would like to know if the below cpu can meet the hardware requirement to deploy ESXi 4.1. besides, is it support onboard LAN card?

    Intel Quad Core Xeon X3430

    Hi Kenaska,

    Welcome to the forums.

    Your processor is 64-bit so it should be OK for ESXi 4.1 . To check if your machine will support the vSphere, check the Compatibility Guides.

    I would like to purchase a new and cheap PC for VMware testing, below two cpu is suitable ? could you recommend the spec with cheap cost?

    Intel Core i5 650

    Intel Core i3 540 <-------enough to run two VM?

    It really depends on how many VMs you want to host and their workload. A single two-cores CPU is enough for testing but will shortly be too weak. Same for the memory, check that you have enough otherwise your system will spend too much time swapping to disks.

    You could buy a high powered desktop, install VMware Workstation and install ESXi servers on the inside of that. Much cheaper then buying a server.
