CPU and Memory reservation for Service Console in ESX4

Hello All,

What is the maximum/best setting for CPU and Memory reservation for Service Console in ESX4. I understand that the maximum memory that can be allocated is 800 MB. What about CPU reservation?

PS: I was told by a VRanger support tech to assign 1.5 ghz cpu and 800 MB memory for SC. Does anyone have any comments on that?

Thanks in advance,

Rupesh

depending on your server hardware but in most cases I (My own experience) leave the CPU just in a default mode,

Yes it is advisable to change the amount of memory for your SC,

How many CPUs you have on your host?

Our ESX host has 2 Xeon E5540 processors (Quad core).

As i said, this depends to your esx use and if you have any 3rd parties applications installed in since it runs the processes on the COS, in this case 1500MHz will be fare enough and OS

does not have to compete with the VMs on the host and so that the 3rd

party processes run without failing

my advice is yes, it could be great ,

Good Luck
