Does anyone have experience replicating Boot LUNs in a boot to san configuration as a method of rapid deployment for ESX hosts? I'm trying to understand exactly what is required to successfully do this. I've heard of needing to edit esx.conf. I've also heard with server profiles (UCS or C-CLASS) you can overwrite the MAC/UUID in a way that is not necessary.
Not a good idea though! Each host should see its own boot LUN..but when it comes to replication its a bad idea to go with replicating boot LUN..We had many issues with same using EMC Timefinder on DMX4...

Hi Ramesh,
I'm evaluating the opportunity to replicate the boot LUNs for a bunch of ESXi hosts (I wouldn't suggest it, but the customer wants us to try and see if is there any way we can do this), can you please elaborate more on the problems you've found when trying to replicate the boot LUNs?
Thank you,
