Bios and EFI issues

Changed boot option to EFI from Bios for Win10 pro VM under esxi 6.0 and now can't change back and can't boot win 10 pro VM.  Help.  What additional information do you need to assist me with this issue.  Need the files from this VM at a minimum.  Why would this change be allowed to if it cant be reversed!

Of course this can be reversed.
1. - remove VM from inventory
2. - edit vmx-file manually and delete the line
firmware ="efi"

and the line

nvram = "name***.nvram"
3.save vmx-file

4. find a file with extension *.nvram.

Delete it if it is about 73kb - then thats the efi-nvram.

Also delete it when its the normal 8kb size.

5. reregister the VM and dont do it again.

Changing an installed VM from BIOS to EFI is not worth the effort.

Thanks for the reply.  Forgive me but, I am newbie to this system.  How do I find and edit the "vmx" file and how do I reinstate the VM to my inventory if I remove it?

Figured out the previous instructions.

Now still not boot of the VM after re-register.  goes to PXE boot.

You just deleted the previous boot-order parameters.

Tell your VM to go into bios-setup next boot.

After entering the BIOS - dont look at the fi9rst tab - that seems to be confusing not to find zour SCSI-disks likisted on this tab.

Instead go to the Boot-tab.
Select  "harddrives" and move that item to the top of the list.

When di8isk are on the top - explode "harddrives and move scsi0:0 to the top.

Hit F10 and that should do it

there were two virtual hard disks on this VM.  The Bios is only seeing one that is not the boot disk.  How can I get this to point back to the boot disk?

So, now that I have had a crash course in back end configuring the VM boot settings, I have finally, manage to get all of the settings in the correct bios order.

Thank you for the help.  It was a system and server saver.

I tried that and it kept re-creating the .nvram file and continued to boot into EFI.

The firmware option needs to be set to firmware="BIOS", and then it will boot into a legacy mode.
