Hello,
I have a single ESXi host (IBM x3650 M4) with 4 Nics that are directly connected to the main 48port network switch.
There are a few VM's on there
DC
FS/PS
Exchange
Sharepoint
Everything is in the same VLAN.
ATM all servers are connected to the one vSwitch which has 1 physical Nic assigned to it.
I would like to at least dedicate a NIC to the FS as that is where most of the traffic goes. How can i accomplish this and still have the servers within the host communicate with each other?
If i was to create a new vSwitch and assign a unused physical Nic to that and then connect the FS to that vSwitch, that would work, but then i would lose connectivity between VM's without going through the physical switch.
Thanks
Peter Sheridan
You could put another NIC on the same switch. Then create a new portgroup with the same vLAN, go to NIC teaming and for the FS server's PG you can put a dedicated NIC for Active.Put the FS's NIC in unused for other servers' traffic.
For other server's PG you can put OS's NIC as unused.
There are four total NIC on one ESX server and There are these VMs
DC
FS/PS
Exchange
Sharepoint
To put traffic of File server on dedicated NIC we have to create Virtual Switch and add that VSwitch on same VLAN. change network settings of that FS VM and assign dedicated new created VSwitch to the NIC settings.
Thanks Guys. Leave it with me and i'll have a play around.
