Backup on Tape: vSphere 5 on NEC FlexPower

Hello,

I am starting a project of 3 ESXi 5 hosts on NEC FlexPower server (or Intel Modular Server) with 3 compute modules.

I will also have vCenter on a different tower server, and need to backup the VMs on SAS connected Tape Library.

How would you suggest that to be done?  the small blade server has only 1 SAS port that can be assigned to one of the ESX hosts at a time, or I can connect the Tape Library to the vCenter stand-alone server. what is the best practice? and how can I backup the VMs to the Tape Library?

You will not have the full solution with VMware only products. If I were you, would connect the tape device to the vCenter Server and use a software like Veeam backup or from another vendor to perform the backups over network and then copy them to the tape.
