Backup datastore

Hi,

Please can someone recommended the best way to back up a datastore.

We have a small office running approx 50 vm's. The datastore is approx 600gb and my plan once a month would be to an external storage device overwriting the previous month.

Can some suggest some tools or sfotware that could do this, either free or not expensive. Finally does anyone know if the datastore can be access as a share within Windows?

Thanks

gr8, do u want to use VCB. Which will need a proxy server for storing it but it may get costly. you can go for veeam or veritas.

You could use Windows Services for Unix to provide an NFS datastore to your ESX server (answering the windows share bit too).

To schedule copies to this datastore you could use either vCLI (paid-for ESX required), shell scripts on ESX itself (vcb for example) or another method that can emulate the vSphere client, for example esxi-control.pl.
