Automatically setup a Route to the vCenter with the wrong Gateway - why?

Hi Community,

I have a strange Situation. I have an vCenter with a lot of ESXi Host around the world.

Approx every 2 weeks, at one Site I have the Situation, that it Setup a route to the vCenter with a wrong Gateway (automatically).

So I have to delete the route, and the Connection/communication with the vCenter will work again.

It would be nice if someone has an idea, why this will happen.

Thanks & Regards

I'm thinking that 172.18.2.1 is a virtual IP address as your gateway might be in a redundant setup where HSRP, VRRP or what-ever is used. For some reason the active gateway adds its real IP address, 172.18.2.2 as source, when routing traffic from your vCenter to your ESXi host.

You ESXi host then adds it to its routing table..

Hi Rubeck,

thanks for that idea.

But I have no redunancy at this site, so I have one Gateway with one IP Adress, the IP Adress which will be added is a ASA für VPN Connections.

For a Workaround I have Setup a static route with the IP from the vCenter and the right Gateway.
