Hello,
i installed a new ESXI 5.5 host and i want to assign my licence.

I removed the old ESXI host.

But if i try to assign the licence the field is grey.

Is it possible for you to restart vCenter Server?

Hi SirHaschke,

Can you do me a favour and check in Licensing and see if the key is still assigned to the old asset?

Also if you could confirm how many sockets the old server had vs. the new as well.

Thanks and kind regards,

Glen

From what you write, I understand that the hosts are managed by vCenter Server!?

Once a host is removed from vCenter Server, it may take a few minutes until the license shows up as being available again. I didn't have issues with this in the past, except for one case where the license wasn't available until I restarted vCenter Server.

Unassigning a licence is only possible if the host is still in its 60 days evaluation period.

In your initial post you mentioned that you removed the host!? However, according to the screenshot that doesn't seem to be the case.Once you remove the host from the vCenter Server environment, the license should become available again.

I can't assign the licence to server vmwnkn05, but i have licenced 10 CPU's ??!!
If i put server vmwnkn01 to eval mode i can assign the licence to vmwnkn05.

Strange.
