Application monitoring is not supported on [hostid] in cluster [cluster name]

I am attempting to configure monitoring of applications within a esx cluster and am receiving the above error from within virtual center. I am currently running ESX 4.1 and have enabled VM and Application Monitoring. Any idea why I am getting this message? I have searched all over and am not finding much information.

Hi Dnadude,

Welcome to the forums.

Have a look at the following thread about the same issue.

Hope it helps.

I had already reviewed that thread and it is talking about shutting off application awareness. I want to enable it. I have also tried the solution that they used to disable and it did not fix the error.

Did you try to restart the vcenter services and then again re-enable application monitoring? what about VMware HA, there is no error turning it on right?

I restarted the vcenter services and restarted the vcenter server itself (rebooted) and have disabled and re-enabled app monitoring and every time that I enable it and click reconfigure for vmware ha in virtual center, I get the same warning stating that app monitoring is not supported.
