Anyway to attach CD/DVD to symbolic link that points to ISO on NFS datastore?

I'm running ESXi v4.1. I want to setup a VM guest where the CD/DVD drive is a symbolic link  to an ISO image file which is on an NFS based datastore.

I can see all the ISO files in the data store but not the symbolic link that points to a specific ISO image file.

Update: I can see all the ISOs in the directory and I can see the ISO file that the symbolic links points twice in the vSphere GUI. So the GUI resolving the symbolic link but it isn't showing it nor allowing a symbolic link to be set.
