Firstly, this server isn't on the VMware HCL, but it's just a test box so I don't care.
It's installed with a pair of 3200DP Intel Xeon Processors with stepping SL7PF and 'yes' they are 64-bit.
I'm installing using the iLO connection as the server doesn't have a DVD drive and ESX 4 is larger than previous versions.
I manage to go through all of the pre-install configuration screens without any issue and the installation starts, but it gets to about 26% and fails stating:
'Could not find packageData.pki file under
I thought it might be the media, so I've downloaded another copy, even used a different client machine to make sure it wasn't something odd there, but I recieve the same message at the same place.
Any ideas?
DL 360 G4 is an unsupported server . As I remember DL 360 G4 and G4p doesn't include Intel VT. And without it you will not be allowed to install ESX4.
Regards.
The DL380G4 will work as I have a couple running ESX4, though the iLo install did not work for me. I had to grab a dvd drive out of a DL380G5 to get it to install
The servers and processors will work just try and find a dvd drive if you can

You are correct, the HP DL380 G4 servers are not supported by VMware or listed on the HCL.
You are also correct, the Intel Xeon processors contained within the G4 do not include VT.
I wasn't aware that Intel-VT was a requirement for ESX 4, my understanding was they needed to by 64-bit capable.
VT is not required to have ESX 4 running. It is only required to run 64bit VMs

FYI - I installed a DVD drive and ESX 4 installed perfectly on the DL380 G4.
It's obviously an iLO issue.
I have the same error message as above with my Dell T110 PowerEdge. It appears on the HCL. It appears to hang up an can't load the file
"Could not find packageData.pki file under file://mnt/source/VMware/RPMS
I can get ESXi 4 U1 to install but really want ESX 4.0 U1 and it never gets past this error? Any ideas? I am installign right from the DVD downloaded from VMware.
Thanks in advance.
