Anti affinity rules

Dear guys,

there is something wrong my my anti affinity rule.

I have set up a single rule to keep 2 VMs on different servers.
There are no conflicts so far as this is the only one existing rule.

I have tested that moving one of the 2 VMs together on the same host and i would expect the other VM to be moved automatically on the other host applying the rule so far.

Nothing happened , am i doing something wrong ?

DRS is set to fully automated, vSphere 4.1

Can you help me ?

Many thanks.

Daniele

Did you configure all the necessary settings for the rule (e.g. strict enforcement)?

Please take a look at https://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r41/vsp_41_mscs.pdf (Chapter 5) which explains the necessary settings to keep VMs separated.

Hi Daniele,

can you manually move both VMs (maybe there are VMotion compatibility issues)?

Also can you post a screen shot of the DRS separation rule?

Dear Andreas,

thanks for your email.

I moved both VMs successfully and vMotion is ok.

Have a look on the screenshot.

thx

Please check the DRS tab of the cluster. Are there any Recommendations or Faults listed after you move both VMs to the same hosts?

Then I am at my wits' end ... you should open a support case with VMware.

Or anyone else?
