In order to help, it's necessary to understand the current sate.

Please provide some details/information, e.g.

  • which file do you have (.ovf, .vmdk, .mf, ...)?
  • which vSphere client do you use (Window, Web)?
  • are you connected to an ESXi host, or to a vCenter Server instance?
  • waht happens, i.e. do you see any warning/error messages (maybe a screenshot can help)?

Did you already try to import the OVF via the Embedded Host Client (https://your-esx-host/ui/) to see whether this makes a difference?

I think that the OVF you've got has originally been created to be imported through vCenter Server. However, to verify this I'd need to see the .ovf (metadata) file. If you want me to take a look at it, then please attach it to a reply post.

Hi Andre,

Thanks for reply , i forgot to add one thing , all these deploying am trying with user having administrator privileges only to resource pool.

1. I have created user ABC in ESXI and Resource pool XYZ.

2. Made user ABC as Administrator only to XYZ resource pool (not ot esxi).

3. Using vSphere Client logged in to ESXI with user ABC credentials.

4. Here am unable to create New VM and Cannot deploy OVF

Note: Same OVF file is deployed with root credentials and New VMs can be created with same.

I have seen in KB article that Resource pool administrator group cannot create a new virtual machine or deploy a template to that pool.

Please help me to understand.

Thank you in Advance.
