I have a situation where I need to prevent a user from being able to readily identify that they are on a VM. In windows using systeminfo quickly identifies the Computer Manufacturer as "VMware, Inc." and the hardware as "VMware Virtual Platform." For me this is bad. Is there a way to prevent VMware from labeling all of its hardware in the OS? Specifically, is there a way to modify the SMBIOS data to present another string?
To expand on this, is there also a way to prevent ESXi from labeling hard drives as "VMware Virtual IDE" devices?
I tried to google for this but nothing came up. 
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
