Alarms monitoring

Hello Guys!

Could you tell me if it is possible to reset acknowledge (or reset action) of alarms?

Our monitoring (and alerting system) is based on alarms, its mean that we got tickets and text messages for selected alarms (hardware alarms).

Sometimes our administrator reset (or/and acknowledge) the alarm, and we are not alerted.

Is it possible to reset the action?

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Radek

Yes you can acknowledge & clear alarms via the vSphere client (Web or C# clients)

In the desktop client, just select the alarm and acknowledge or clear as required.

Hello, thanks for your answer, but this is not what I need Smiley Happy

I need to clear acknowledge, it means that if someone acknowledge any alarms I have to undo it.

Also if someone clear alarms, I need to undo it, I need to see them back.

We have many situation where servers have still hardware issue but alarms tab is cleared by someone.

Please try to reset the hardware sensors which should being back the alarms that are still a problem:

Procedure

1 Log in to a vCenter Server system using the vSphere Client, and display the Hosts and Clusters view in the inventory.

2 Select the host in the inventory and click the Hardware Status tab.

3 Click Reset sensors.

Unfortunately it is not as simple as might seem.

When I reset sensors neither cleared nor acknowledged alerts are not showing again.

That's why I decided to raised the post Smiley Sad

Do you recall what the alarms were?

You could try restarting the management agents on the affected hosts to see if they come back. Failing that you would probably need to wait for them to trigger again
