After upgrading from ESXi 5.1 U1 to ESX 5.5 passthru0 Error "could not be registered due to an non-existant Hardware-/Software"

Hello ,

First - Yes i now, Backup Tape Drives and passthru over SCSI Controller Cards for this Tape Drives are officially not supported.

But i try it for me under ESXi 5.1 U1 and it works with an HP Ultrium 920 Tape Drive with an HP SC11Xe 1-Kanal Ultra 320 PCI-E Host Bus Adapter in Backup Exec 2012.

The Server is an HP Proliant ML350 Gen8 Server.

The ESXi 5.5 ISO File Version was the HP customized Version.

But now after Update to ESXi 5.5 i become the following error when i try to start an VM Windows SBS 2011 Server :

"The device pciPassthru0 could not be registered due to an non-existant Hardware-/Software support for 8:8:0"

What i try is to remove the Passthru and configure it new. But the same Error.

Can someone hlep me to solve this error  .

Thanks

Hello,

I do have exactly the same problem with more or less the same HW configuration. Did anybody figure out on how to get this work? Would a downgrade to ESXi 5.1 solve the problem? Would appreciate any comments.

Thanks.
