Initially I had a datastore in my vsphere with name dspd, Which i created by creating partition using partedUtil and then creating datastore using vmkfstools.
After recreating the datastore with same name "dspd", It renames it with dspd (1).
Is there any way to delete old entries from ESXi so as to avoid datastore renaming ?
I assume you use a standalone ESXi host rather than a cluster with a vCenter.
On a standalone host datastore friendly names are referenced in esx.conf.
esx.conf also references datastores that are no longer present so cleaning up esx.conf should prevent the effect you experienced.
Make sure to run backup.sh after you manually edited esx.conf

Hi,
Is your ESXi host added to a vCenter with another host having same datastore name? In such case, vCenter will rename the datastore by adding (1) to protect the uniqueness of datastore name.

Thank you for all the replies
After disabling unmount related entries, I am not getting any suffix after datastore name.
