Adding a boot LUN in Datastore view

Hello,

We recently moved to SAN boot, once rebooted the host i was going to add the new LUN under datastores but there's something not clear, here's the screen.

What the "use free space" is intentended for? Is it going to perform any formatting action on the LUN?

I just wanted to mount that datastore.

Thank you!

Fabio

While formatting it will create the Vmfs5 file system on the LUN.

I would suggest to keep the LUN as it as not to use for the datastore activity(VM). but you can create the datastore to on the Freespace left in this LUN.

If you find any answer useful. please mark the answer as correct or helpful.

Thanks, but this is something i have to fix in some way.

Talking with storage guys and basing on the outputs pasted later in this message,  looks like that the problem could have been generated after a representation of the same LUN due to maintenance reason
