I need to have 8 COM ports in a Windows Guest on ESXi 5. I purchased an 8 Port PCI-E serial card that i've passed through using directpath. The card passes through, but its made the entire host very slow - about 10 times slower than if I remove the card from direct path. I have other cards passed through on direct path and they are ok.
I am wondering if I am approaching this in the right way - is there for example a serial card that would add the serial ports to the host so i can pass the ports to the guest
Or is there another way that I should consider?
