Add an ESXI 5.1 host in vcenter server 5.0

Hello all,

I`ve just installed an esxi5.1 host and i tried to add it in vcenter server 5.0 without success.

The error is:

A general system error occurred:Timed waiting for vpxa to start

Is it possible to do it? If not, is somewhere documented? I searched alot and didn`t found anything relevant.

The installation was made using an iso file , fresh install, in a shared storage datastore which was formated.

I do not want to upgrade vcenter server to 5.1 because the impact in my infrastructure is high.

Thanks for help!

VMware  Product Interoperability Matrix has got update and you would need vCenter 5.1 to manage ESXi 5.1 hosts

I believe you must upgrade VCenter first to 5.1 in order to add/manage a 5.1 host.

You must upgrade your vCenter server.

If you want to test 5.1 you could consider a nested environment as explained at http://www.virtuallyghetto.com/2011/07/how-to-enable-support-for-nested-64bit.html Smiley Happy

Welcome to the Communities..

VMware  Product Interoperability Matrix is still not updated.. But AFAIK you would need vCenter 5.1 to manage esxi 5.1 hosts

Thank you.

I think that i would downgrade to esxi 5.0 u1 in that case.

I expect that vmware will update asap VMware Product Interoperability Matrix because ESXi5.1 and vcenter server 5.1 are already released...

Thank you all for helping me!
