Add VMware ESX 4 to VirtualCenter 2.5

Is it possible to add a ESX 4 host to VirtualCenter 2.5?

Best regards

But you cannot run vms of version 7 on an ESX 3.5 host!

Maybe possible but not supported... http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r40/vsp_compatibility_matrix.pdf

Remember that the Virtual Center pushes an agent to the ESX host... And I don't think VC 2.5 has an ESX4 aware agent in its repository (at least not an 64 bit one)

Is not possible.

You need vCenter Server 4.0 to manage ESX 4.0 (but could also manage ESX 3.x).

This is not supported and will not work.

VC 4 will however support your holder hosts, so if you want to upgrade SOMe ESX hosts, just upgrade the VC (as per vSphere upgrade guide), then upgrade the hosts as you are ready.

One day I will virtualise myself . . .
