Hello,
I'm trying to add Tape drive on ESXI 4.1 following the guide Configuring vendor-supported tape drives and media changers on VMware ESX/ESXi 4.x/5.x (1016407)
Problem is that the Runtime Name has target 18:
But the dialog for adding SCSI device allows only up to 15:
Is there any workaround for it? Thanks for any help.
The Virtual Device Node that you select in the Add Hardware wizard is used for the presentation to the guest OS, and is not related to the physical device. In case your VM already has SCSI disks on virtual controller 1, you may consider to map the tape drive to a new controller like SCSI 2:0.

Thank you for advice. I will try and let know.
I thought it is required as it is written in the guide:
The virtual and physical SCSI IDs must match each other.
To be honest, I didn't read the whole KB article, and wasn't aware of such a requirement.
What kind of SCSI controller do you use on the host, i.e. how is the tape drive connected to the host? Target ID 18 for a local SCSI controller sounds kind of unusual to me.

It is Fujitsu Server Primergy TX300 S7. There is motherboard MegaRaid Controller: RAID Ctrl SAS 6G 5/6 512MB (D2616).
I know the guide also says "Tape devices cannot be connected to RAID controllers.". So probably it will not work 😕
