About number of host of a cluster

Hi guys,

there is a raccomandation for sizing a cluster VSphere ?

I have 20 ESX host with 384 GB RAM and 2 CPU x 32 core total and i need to choice between a 1 cluster with 20 ESX host or 2 cluster with 10 ESX host.

Which is the best choice ?
Which are the factors that i keep in mind for this choice?

I don't think anyone here can give you a right or wrong answer looking from the outside.  You need to determine that for your organization.  What are the risks of losing the cluster, or a machine in a cluster? What features/services are the clusters providing?

When you are ready to upgrade, will you be able to do so, with one cluster? or would you want a second cluster for migration/upgrade purposes?

Do you have security/asset management/administration reasons to only have 1 vs. 2?

Is the size of the 10 servers in 1 cluster enough compute to perform the tasks of your organization?

So many questions!

I lean towards keeping hosts together such that the question you should ask yourself is "what is the reason for separating them in to two clusters?"
