About broadcom nic BCM57800 10 Gb and iscsi

Hi guys,

i have a server esxi 5.1 with 1 nic broadcom netextreme II bcm57800 and would use my storage via iscsi.

This adapter  support iscsi off load but i don't understand if is mandatory to add 'software iscsi adapter' too from esxi or not.

Hi gianlucab,

You would only use the iSCSI Software Adapter if you need the ESXi Kernel itself to perform the iSCSI operations. You would use this with Ethernet adapters that do not support iSCSI offload.
