ASUS Z97 Deluxe can't detect the HDD

Hello,

I tried to install the ESXi 5.5 on a machine with the following specs

+++++

MotherBoard+CPU : ASUS Z97 Deluxe + i7 4790

RAM : GSkill RIP JAWS-X 1600 (8GBx4pcs) CL10

HDD :WD 3.5 SATA BLACK 2TB

Casing : Cooler Master 311

Power Supply : Seasonic S128-Non MODULAR520W

+++++

The problem is when I install the ESXi 5.5, it can't detect the HDD.

And I also changed the CPU settings as follows.

+++++

Intel Adaptive Termal Monitor Enable
Hyper-Treading Enable
Actie Processor Cores All
Limit CPUID Maximum Disable
Execute Disable Bit Enable
Intel Virtualization Technology Enable
Hardware Perfetcher Enable
Adjacent Cache Line Prefetch Enable
Boot Performance mode Turbo Performance

+++++

But, still can't detect the HDD
So, I tried to install to usb.

After installing the ESXi to the usb, the system still can't detect the Datastore.

So, is there any idea or any suggestion?

I also attached the screenshot.

Check your main-board chipset compatibility with ESXi 5.5 in VMware compatibility portal: http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php

Official VMware Compatibility Guide supports for Vendor supported Hardware ONLY.

The thing I'm doing is whitebox esxi. So, this link doesn't useful for this case.

I have another asus motherboard. My experience was that the ASMedia ports works with esxi 5.1, but not with esxi 5.5.

All the other ports works with both versions of esxi. (Hence I run esxi 5.1.)

I got the exact same MB as you, I added the VIB but I can still not get it to work.

Is there any BIOS settings that I might need to change?

Thx.
