AMD Graphics Driver version that works for R9 290 GPU Pass through

  1. Dedicated GPU (AMD Radeon R9 290) passthrough setup to a VM running Ubuntu 14.04 x64 LTS.
  2. Hypervisor used is KVM.
  3. Tried installing the latest Graphics driver available on amd support site (14.501 related packages) with and without installing CCC. After running aticonfig --initial -f, rebooted the VM.
  4. Blank screen observed. Not able to even get into console after reboot. My intent is to get the VM display on the monitor connected to this dGPU via DVI. Currently it uses emulated display (cirrus) and the display is shown up on the VMM console window alone.

Any clues? Also, any leads to which AMD Graphics driver version is stable for the above?

If you are using KVM this is probably not the right forum for your question, try one of the KVM forums out there.
