A little clarification on upgrading from vmware to either 4.1 or 5.0

Hi all,

I was wondering if someone could be me some clarification on upgrading my vmware.  Currently I am using the free ESXi version 4.0.0 build 398348. I now have a number of guest os's running on the server.  I would like to upgrade to the latest version but have not been able to find the information I need to perform this task outside of starting from scatch on the server.  I there an upgrade path?

Thank you for your time in advance.

Yes you can upgrade that without doing a reinstall. However because you have the free version, you'll have to run the update using vihostupdate.

For the 4.1 upgrade see:

The ESXi 5 is not yet avaible.

Probably on August.

And also NOTE you may be limited with the free version and the new vRAM restriction (only 8 GB of vRAM in the free edition).
