Hi ,

You can use same VLAN ID for multiple port group there is no problem  . Based on the design you have to configure .

For one standard switch using one vlan on single port group is best practice .

Few  cases you may use same vlan on different port group and different standard switches .

you mean host is down ?

Source and destination should have same port-group name with vlan id so it will migrate through vmotion .

Example configuration like below

ESXi Host 1 -  192.168.1.x  (Management and vmotion )

                        192.168.2.x     TEST_01 (port group name )  , 20 (VLAN ID )

ESXi Host 2 - 192.168.1.x  (Management and vmotion )

                      192.168.2.x     TEST_01 (port group name )  , 20 (VLAN ID )
