Hi all,
Recently I have read an article http://www.vmwareinfo.com/2009/01/iscsi-hardware-or-software-how-many.html where an interesting point was
"8- If you are lucky enough to be running the 10G Converged Ethernet Adapters then the choice is a no-brainer!"
Let us assume that we have a 8x10GbE Rj45 module in a switch, we can add a 10GbE dual port Intel X540 cards to our serevers http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/network-adapters/10-gigabit-network-adapters/ethernet-x540.ht... and add a 10GbE enabled Storage with SW iSCSI , like this onehttp://www.qnap.com/en/index.php?lang=en&sn=822&c=351&sc=698&t=2328&n=10073,
Will it allow so really great performance? Is it worth it? Or is it better to stay on aggregated 4x1gbps links to both the servers and the storage as a well established and mature solution?
that article is from 2009, so running 10g is more common place now.
are you having problems with your current setup or expecting a greater load?
if not leave it.
Why should I leave it? What are the problems?
