1024 Paths limitation?

Hi

Can someone tell me where this limitation sits?

Can't be the HBA's because the total per host is 1024 regardless of number of HBA's

Is it an OS limitation? Hypervisor/Linux

Is it and x86 limitation? Hardware Bus

Would really like to know where this limitation sits.

Hi,

     It is Hypervisor limitaion.

     Each release of VMware Hypervisor has its own limitaion. You can refer below maximum configuration to know the maximum of each.

I am aware of the maximums document, but is more interested of why this is the limit.

Why has it not been increased since ESXi 3.0 or maybe even GSX ?

Does VMware hardcode the limit into Hypervisor, or is it an underlying limit in Linux or x86 platform.

My Cluster is reaching this limit (936 currently)

If you check max config guide lot of stuff has increased than ESX3.0...
