how to online update ESXi from command prompt?

I tried

esxcli software profile update -p ESXi-7.0U1a-17119627-standard -d https://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/main/vmw-depot-index.xml

but nothing happens.. wait 30 min, but nothing happens...

Hey, hope you are doing fine:


The URL you are providing is a vsphere Update Manager Repository, you won't be able to download data directly from it from the ESXI host.
You will need vSphere Update Manager to do that

The easiest way would be to download the VIB's on your local computer and upload them via SCP to the ESXi host and then run the same command

Maybe it's just the firewall rule that you are missing?
