SSD hard disk not detected - adding storage failed

Hello,

I got myself a SSD hard disk drive to enlagre my available space. The device is a Samsung Portable T5 SSD with 2TB capacity. Unfortunatly it is not found if I click on the "add storage" button. I started some internet research but I didn't any really helpful answer.

I'm not in the ESXI setup - I run already 3 VMs from a USB key in my Raspi.

Maybe some generall questions first.

Do I have to be in "service mode" to add/detect storage? Do I always need to reboot to detect new hardware? Does the hdd need to be formatted before detection (if yes which partition type would be necessary)?

I'm looking forward to your help and thanks in advance.

With kind regards.

Hi, have you tested disabling usb passthrough?

See that nice article from William: https://williamlam.com/2021/05/disable-passthrough-for-specific-usb-devices-for-use-with-esxi.html

Fully works! Thank you!

Thanks also to William, who seems to know all about this.
